How I Watched the Derby While on Holiday in Spain (Without a VPN)
The Holiday Dilemma
We've all been there. You book a lovely week in the sun, but the fixture list comes out and your team is playing their biggest rivals right in the middle of your holiday. You think, "No worries, I'll just use my mainstream provider Go app on the hotel Wi-Fi."
Then you arrive, open the app, and get hit with the dreaded message: "This content is not available in your current region." Panic sets in. You start frantically searching for a dodgy Irish pub that might be showing the game, dragging your reluctant family along with you.
The "Pack Your TV" Solution
This year, I was prepared. Before we flew to Alicante, I simply unplugged the Amazon TV Stick from the back of my living room TV and threw it in my suitcase. It takes up less space than a pair of socks.
When we got to the hotel, I plugged it into the back of the hotel room TV, connected it to the Wi-Fi, and opened my TVuro app. Because the service doesn't rely on strict regional geo-blocking like the big corporate apps, it just... worked. No VPN required. No messing around with location settings.
Sun, Sea, and Three Points
While my kids were napping in the afternoon, I sat on the balcony with a cold Estrella, watching the derby in perfect HD. It was glorious. If you travel a lot for work or leisure, having your entire TV package on a portable stick is an absolute game-changer. Just make sure you cancel all those other useless subscriptions first so you have more spending money for the holiday!
