How to Watch Every motorsport Race Live Without Paying mainstream provider Prices
The Cost of Being an motorsport Fan
I've been watching open-wheel motorsport since the V10 era. Back then, you just turned on terrestrial TV on a Sunday afternoon and watched the race. Simple. Today? Being an motorsport fan in the UK requires a second mortgage.
To watch every practice session, qualifying, and the race live, you're essentially forced into a premium major sports providers package. If you only care about motorsport, paying £40+ a month for channels you never watch is incredibly frustrating.
The official motorsport app Dilemma
You might be thinking, "What about official motorsport app?" It's a great app, but due to exclusive broadcasting rights, the live race feature is blocked in the UK. You can only watch replays. To get around it, you have to mess about with VPNs and foreign credit cards, which is a massive headache. (Speaking of VPNs, read my thoughts on whether you actually need one for streaming).
The Better Way to the Grid
I finally got fed up and switched my setup. I now use a premium streaming service that gives me access to the global sports networks. Not only do I get the UK broadcast, but I can switch over to the international feeds if I want different commentary.
The picture quality is flawless 4K, there's no buffering when the lights go out, and I'm paying a fraction of the cost. If you're tired of the monopoly, it's time to make a change. And if you're worried your partner will hate the new setup, don't be. I wrote a whole post about how I convinced my wife to ditch mainstream provider, and she hasn't looked back since.
See you on race day.
